Effects of Evaporating Temperature on the Flow Pattern of Dimethyl Ether in a Horizontal Evaporator

Dimethyl ether is one of the derivative products coal that will be used as a household fuel substitute for LPG in Indonesia. In addition, it can also working fluid refrigeration system. To understand behavior this refrigerant, simulation was carried out to determine flow pattern dimethyl horizontal evaporator. This study applied an evaporator air conditioner with inside diameter 6.3 and 7.9 mm cooling capacity 2.64 5.28 kW. By varying evaporation temperature from -20 5°C observed dominated by annular when set at higher value. Simulation using pipe kW showed inlet combination stratified-wavy wavy-annular all range temperature. When reduced mm, stratified wavy only found evaporating -15 -20°C. All vanishes doubled Annular dominant under condition.
